Wellness isn't simply a lack of ill-health. Wellness can be described as “an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence”.
Billions of pounds are lost each year due to preventable illness. But western health culture is primarily orientated around symptomatic relief rather than encouraging holistic wellbeing. Ideally, the future health culture of the UK will focus much more on increasing people’s health beyond the mere prevention of illness.
flow training’s courses can be described as lifestyle coaching. They touch on many of the aspects of having a more successful existence. These include the following elements:
- Relaxation – how to relax the muscles, e.g. neck & shoulders, reducing the effects of stress and allowing the body to work more efficiently. More importantly, how not to get tense in the first place.
- Breathing – strengthening the breathing muscles, increasing the intake, and uptake, of oxygen and its transfer to the blood. Oxygenated blood nourishes the tissues of the body much more effectively.
- Posture – good posture allows the inner organs to function correctly, the digestion to work more efficiently, and the body to be more relaxed. If the body is relaxed, the mind will be also
- Energy – promotes the flow of the body’s natural energy, e.g. in the muscles, and also how to harness and direct it. You’ll be surprised what you can do when you’re relaxed – effortless effort.
All these outcomes are achieved through direct experience and use of a very sophisticated bio-feedback system of exercises that are, crucially, fun to do.
